A glowing timeline runs down the screen, starting with one card whose year is shown. You hold two cards for famous firsts (inventions, discoveries, voyages, buildings, sport and culture) with their years hidden.
Tap a card to pick it up, then tap the gap on the timeline where you think it belongs. The year flips over. If it fits between its neighbours, it locks in. If not, a candle goes out and the card slides to its real place, so the timeline always grows and every miss teaches you something. A card with the same year as a neighbour counts on either side.
You always hold two cards: place the one you're surest of, or take the one that fits a tight, high-paying gap. The other stays in your hand.
Tighter gaps pay more. Each gap shows its multiplier while you hold a card: wider than 500 years ×1, 100–500 ×2, 25–100 ×3, 10–25 ×5, under 10 years ×8. Each right card scores 100 × the gap multiplier × your streak (×1, rising 0.25 per right card in a row up to ×3, back to ×1 on a miss).
The clock starts at 60 seconds. Every right card adds 6 seconds, or 10 if the gap was 25 years or less. If it runs out, a candle goes out and the clock refills to 30 seconds.
A run is up to 40 cards with 3 candles. Early cards are well known and far apart; later ones are harder and crowd into the 1800s and 1900s, where neighbours can be a few years apart. Place all 40 for +2,000 and +10 per second left on the clock; every candle still lit at the end is worth +500.
Drag the timeline or use the mouse wheel to scroll. The strip on the right shows the whole line; tap or drag it to jump.
On a keyboard: 1 / 2 pick a card, ↑ / ↓ choose a gap, Enter places it, P pauses, M mutes.
