Tap a card in your hand, then tap the gap on the timeline where it belongs. The year flips over.
Right: it locks in. Wrong: a candle goes out, and the card slides to its true place.
Tighter gaps pay more (the ×chip on each gap). Right cards add time to the clock. You hold two cards: bank the safe one, or take the tight gap.
