Yarn Lasso

Loop your yarn round the buttons. Pull it tight.

Snake with the fatal rule inverted. Crossing your own yarn closes a loop and captures every button inside it, and bigger loops are worth vastly more — but closing one costs you all the yarn you spent on it.

How to play Yarn Lasso

Snake, with one rule flipped: running into your own yarn doesn't end the game. It closes a loop, and every button inside the loop is captured.

Steer the needle round a cluster of buttons, then turn into your own yarn to pull the loop tight. Bigger loops are worth far more: a loop with n buttons scores 50 × n², so 1 button scores 50, 3 score 450 and 6 score 1,800. Steering straight into a button just knocks it aside.

Closing a loop uses up all the yarn in it, so you get shorter. Eat seeds to grow back (+2 each, 5 points). After every loop the yarn pauses for a moment so you can pick a new direction.

The table edge and the spiky pin tins cost a life. Beetles nibble off any yarn they walk into, and running the needle into one costs a life, but lasso a beetle for +300. You have 3 lives.

There are 6 gardens. Fill each garden's button jar before its timer runs out for 10 points per second left. The yarn gets faster each garden, and in the first four a glow shows what a loop would catch. Finish with lives left for 300 each.

On a phone, swipe, or tap the side you want to turn toward. On a computer, use the arrow keys or WASD. P pauses, M mutes.
