Wooden letter blocks keep rising from the bottom of the type case. Drag through touching letters to spell a word, then lift your finger. Letters can touch in any direction, diagonals too, and each block can be used once per word. Words need 3 or more letters.
A real word clears its blocks and the blocks above drop down. A word that isn't in the dictionary just shakes. You won't know until you let go.
A new row slides up every 15 seconds at the start, a little faster every 30 seconds. The bar under the board shows when the next one is coming. Long words buy time: 6 letters push the next row back 3 seconds, 7 letters 5 seconds and 8 or more 8 seconds.
You have 3 inkpots. If a row would push the stack over the red line, you lose one and the top 3 rows burst away. When a column has reached the top and the next row is 5 seconds away, a hint word of 5 or more letters lights up once, letter by letter.
Stuck? Shuffle re-letters the whole board. You start with 2, and every word of 7 or more letters earns one back (up to 3).
Every 45 seconds something new arrives: gold letters (a word using one scores double), stone blocks (no letter; they crumble when you spell a word next to them), cracked blocks (used twice to clear), ink blots (use that letter within 5 seconds or it turns to stone) and double rises.
Scoring: each letter has a value (common letters 1, rare ones up to 8). A word scores its letter values × a length bonus (×1 for 3 letters, ×1.5 for 4, ×2 for 5, ×3 for 6, ×4 for 7, ×5 for 8 or more), doubled for each gold letter, plus 2 points for every second you survive.
